Veterinarians: Hanna R Veterinarians have a very exciting and interesting job. They examine animals to see what’s wrong with them. They give blood tests, x- rays, and other tests to make sure the animal is ok. Helping sick or hurt animals is their specialty. They figure out what’s wrong with an animal by how it looks, acts, and smells. If they don’t look very carefully they won’t find out why the animal is hurt or sick. In order to become a veterinarian you need to get a Bachelor’s degree. You need to go through four years of college and study math, biology, chemistry, physics, nutrition, animal science, and English. You must learn how to do a surgery and do laboratory tests. You will need to work with experienced vets for two years. Math is very important to vets. They need to know just the right amount of medicine to give to the animals. They need to know how much the animal weighs. They have to compare how much the animal weighs now from how it weighed before. They must know the dosage of medication to give to the animals. If they don’t know how much the animal weighs or how much medicine to give to the animal they can’t help the hurt and sick animals get healthy again. All these things are very important to a veterinarian. The two most important things are math and animal science. They use these two things the most, in many different ways. For instance, if someone brings in their cat learning to read the cat’s behavior and body language can tell you a lot about what kind of mood he is in. This if a very important thing to know if you want to become a veterinarian! If you know this stuff you can be lucky enough to become a veterinarian!
